This year, thousands of Indian pilgrims are turning to Shia Ziyarat tours. The shift is clear. Travel agents, pilgrimage planners, and spiritual guides have all noticed the rise.
Deep Spiritual Connection
Ziyarat means “visit.” But for Shia Muslims, it’s much more. It’s a journey to the sacred shrines of Imam Ali (AS) in Najaf, Imam Hussain (AS) in Karbala, Hazrat Abbas (AS), and the other Ahlul Bayt. These places hold deep emotional and religious value. Many Indian pilgrims feel this is the right time to go.
“Karbala changed my heart. I cried at the shrine of Imam Hussain (AS). Every Shia must go at least once in life,” says Mehdi Rizvi from Lucknow.
Better Tour Options
Travel companies are offering well-planned Ziyarat packages. These include visa help, guided tours, halal meals, and Urdu-speaking scholars. The process is smooth now. Many say it’s easier than ever before.
“Aliya Travels made my trip peaceful. Everything was arranged. I just focused on my Ziyarat and duas,” says Fatima Zaidi from Hyderabad.
Safety and Comfort
Post-COVID, safety matters more. Iraq and Iran are now more open, secure, and welcoming. Hotels near harams are clean and well-managed. Pilgrims can now stay closer to the shrines and perform ziyarat, nawafil, and duas in comfort.
“I stayed just 5 minutes from the Haram of Imam Ali (AS). I went for Ziyarat every night. It felt like home,” shares Syed Abbas from Mumbai.
Emotional Healing and Faith Renewal
People are visiting not just for tourism, but for healing. Many are going after personal loss, illness, or hardships. The ziyarat experience helps renew faith and bring peace.
“I lost my father. I wanted to pray for him at Karbala. The moment I stood near the grave of Imam Hussain (AS), I felt strength,” says Zahra Batool from Delhi.
More Awareness in Youth
Young Shia Muslims from India are also going for Ziyarat. Social media, YouTube vlogs, and Islamic influencers are spreading awareness. Many are choosing Karbala over vacation spots.
“I used my holiday savings to go to Najaf and Karbala. Best decision of my life,” says Ali Taqi, a student from Pune.
If you’re planning your Ziyarat, now is the time. The doors of the Ahlul Bayt (AS) are always open.
